Accessibility Statement
Our commitment
Hivewire wants every beekeeper to be able to use our website, our web application, our mobile apps and our online store, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification, voice control or other assistive technology. Accessibility is part of how we build and review the product, not an add-on.
The standard we build to
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA for everything we control: the public site at hivewire.us, the Hivewire web application, and the pages of our store at shop.hivewire.us. Our mobile apps follow the platform accessibility guidance from Apple and Google alongside the same WCAG principles.
We do not claim full conformance. WCAG conformance is a continuous effort, and parts of the product change every week. What we commit to is measuring against the standard, fixing what we find, and telling you honestly where the gaps are.
What we do
- Review the public site and the Hivewire web application with keyboard-only walkthroughs, automated scans in light and dark themes and at narrow screen widths, and checks of page structure and code, and keep dated findings.
- Fix findings in order of user impact and record what was changed and when.
- Every report is recorded, gets a reference, and is tracked until it is resolved.
- Use automated scans as one part of accessibility review. A scan alone cannot establish conformance.
- Design for visible focus, labeled fields, image descriptions, sufficient contrast, small screens, zoom and reduced-motion preferences, and verify improvements as we address findings. In the web application, “Pause animations” in the account menu stops background and interface motion; it is remembered in your browser.
- Refuse accessibility "overlay" widgets. They do not make a site accessible and can interfere with assistive technology.
Known limitations
As of the date above, these are the areas we know about and are working on:
- The public site still needs complete screen-reader task testing and browser-zoom checks, including at 400% zoom.
- Storefront and third-party commerce controls remain under review, including some unlabeled controls. Checkout is provided by Shopify; our review has not established full conformance of the shopping experience.
- We audited the web application against WCAG 2.2 AA in September 2026 and have fixed the issues that audit found, apart from a few minor items still on our list. It has not yet had a third-party audit, or complete task testing with each screen reader listed below.

If any part of Hivewire is hard or impossible for you to use, we want to know, and we will work with you to get you what you need in another way in the meantime. Tell us here.
When you send it, you'll see a reference and a private link where you can follow your report and reply to us.
We acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and aim to resolve blocking issues, or provide an equivalent alternative, within ten business days. We will keep you informed while we work on it.
Technical notes
The public site and web application are built with standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript and are designed to work with current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, with VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS and TalkBack, and with keyboard-only navigation. Some functions require JavaScript.
